Cmd C is an okay idle game themed around programming and computer science tasks. While I enjoyed the concept it has of tiered mechanics, challenges and upgrades, the act structure really took me out of it because I rarely play idle games for their story. It’s not completely a bust, but I didn’t stick with it too long.
The core mechanic of the game is that you have multiple tiers of things to do. You’ll idly produce lines that you can reset for knowledge that is used to produce data that you can reset for capital that you can reset to make tools. All these things also have upgrades that improve various things you’ve unlocked before then, and challenges that make you reset and try to accomplish certain goals. All of this is pretty fun and I love the idea of having less things to do per-tier but having multiple layered tiers instead.
It kinda all fell down when I managed to get enough lives to “move on” the story, which reset everything and started new different tiers with different mechanics. I don’t know if this is because balancing would’ve been too hard, or if the story really warranted a total game reset, but that was the end of my interest in continuing. I really wish that the new act would’ve just added new mechanics on top of what I was already doing. Ah well! Still an interesting idle game.
