Swap Heroes 2 is a fun little game where you swap heroes on a grid in order to have them attack monsters or use special abilities. It's a bit too simple with very light RPG elements and there is one tune that reminds me of a Super Mario RPG boss fight theme - which is funny. All and all, I've had a few good moments with it, but it didn't last very long, as the core of the game is doing the same thing over and over.
You make a team of four heroes, all with health, attack and special abilities. Some attack at a range, others are melee only - I didn't enjoy the melee characters and never used them - the special abilities range from dealing damage to all enemies, to healing, to dealing damage in a single row, and the like. You defeat enemies by swapping heroes on a grid, then all enemies attack, your characters do too, and your character in the back row uses it's special ability. If one character dies, it's game over - I kinda wish you could continue until your whole party died - and you get a star for completing a level. You can get up to three stars per level if you beat the three difficulties, and you need 10 stars to get to the last boss.
Levels are composed of two stages and in each stage you have to defeat a set number of enemies. Your foes have various attacks, some explode after a certain number of turns, some move and attack in melee, some attack at range, forcing you to switch your characters between columns and activating special abilities to heal. I've found it a bit silly that my main strategy was to switch between healing and damage to all enemies and I could more-or-less go through any level with that. There are other special abilities, but just healing and dealing damage sounded like all I'd ever need.
The upgrade system is also a bit flawed too, you can put your stars into four categories - health, attack, heal and skill. I wish they'd combined heal and skill together, because your characters that heal don't have any other skill besides healing. This would've allowed for another stat to take its place. It's not a big deal, but with a team of four and mainly having one healer, these points in 'heal' seem superfluous.
In any case, SH2 is fine. It's a nice little game, there are no annoying microtransactions and the style is okay. It's just not very deep.
